Assisting the Supervisory Committee
with their Internal Control work

Many credit unions have difficulty recruiting volunteers for their Supervisory Committee.  And while these volunteers do their best,  they often have little or no expertise in the areas of internal control they are expected to oversee.  In addition, these volunteers may have only limited time to devote to their duties. 

I can assist the Supervisory Committee in fulfilling their responsibilities. 
This service does not replace the Committee, but helps them to complete their work at a level expected by your Federal and / or State examiners. 
 
The Committee continues to handle the work they are comfortable with performing (such as cash counts). 
 
I perform the more complex testing which requires advanced expertise with internal control and accounting. 
Plus, I can also do some of the time consuming items the committee would prefer to delegate.   
 
The type and amount of work I perform is customized to your credit union based on the amount of help desired by your Supervisory Committee.  This is determined by meeting with your Supervisory Committee Chair. 
 
I would visit the credit union once a month, every other month, or quarterly – depending on the amount of work you request, and what works best for the Supervisory Committee and management.
 
Examiners are continually increasing their expectations of the Supervisory Committee regarding both the quality and amount of internal control testing work.  My assistance will help your Supervisory Committee meet your examiners expectations.
